D-West Field Hockey: Unleashes their inner GOAT with flawless Ches-Mont season

On Wednesday night, D-West defeated Avon Grove, completing an undefeated season in the Ches-Mont. With a highly athletic team boasting several college commits, it’s no surprise that they’ve clinched the title of overall league champions!

Coach MacPherson expressed her pride in the girls for their composure and dedication to the game plan, especially in this match against Avon Grove, which served as excellent preparation for the upcoming Districts.

Junior Aimee Largoza opened the scoring, followed by a goal from the sophomore Regan Welsh. Largoza also sealed the victory with an overtime game-winner.

The team’s strength lies in their collective effort, as MacPherson pointed out, “Each player’s exceptional performance allows me to emphasize their unique contributions. The team’s remarkable ability to work cohesively, rather than as 11 individuals, has been a fundamental factor in our continuous success.”

On the defensive front, senior goalkeeper Kaiya Chepow delivered a standout performance, making two crucial saves at pivotal moments. She bravely confronted a challenging breakaway in regulation, facing off against two Avon Grove players, and her aggressive, confident play denied them a goal. In overtime, Kaiya once again came through with a vital clearance on another breakaway.
